Disclaimer: This is very much a "works for me" project. It's opinionated, occasionally held together with duct tape, and makes no guarantees about working on your machine. Use at your own risk — and if you build something cool with it, let me know!

Installation

This is an Arch Linux setup. The initial system is bootstrapped with archinstall, then the dotfiles install.sh handles the rest.

Initial setup (archinstall)

1. Mirror select — choose us
2. Disk → Partitioning → best_effort
3. Encryption → LUKS → set a password → select your drive/partition
4. Bootloader → limine
5. UKI → confirm (ok)
6. Additional packages → add pipewire
7. Timezone → select your region

After archinstall finishes and the system reboots, log in and continue below.

Post-reboot

1. Install git and a downloader:

   sudo pacman -S --noconfirm git curl

2. Run the bootstrap script:

   bash <(curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/viacoffee/dotfiles/master/bootstrap.sh)

   To install a specific branch, pass -b:

   bash <(curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/viacoffee/dotfiles/master/bootstrap.sh) -b back_to_arch

Screen Recording

Recordings go to ~/Videos. Mod+V / Mod+Shift+V are toggles - the same key stops an active recording. Uses niri's dynamic cast target, so the portal picker only appears once: choose niri Dynamic Cast Target (not a window or monitor) and the choice is cached in ~/.config/gpu-screen-recorder/restore_token.

The window being recorded gets a red border. If recordings ever capture the wrong thing, delete restore_token and re-pick - a stale token silently overrides everything.
