Installation
This is an Arch Linux setup. The initial system is bootstrapped with archinstall, then the dotfiles install.sh handles the rest.
Initial setup (archinstall)
Mirror select — choose us
Disk → Partitioning → best_effort
Encryption → LUKS → set a password → select your drive/partition
Bootloader → limine
UKI → confirm (ok)
Additional packages → add pipewire
Timezone → select your region
After archinstall finishes and the system reboots, log in and continue below.
Recordings go to ~/Videos. Mod+V / Mod+Shift+V are toggles - the same key stops an active recording. Uses niri's dynamic cast target, so the portal picker only appears once: choose niri Dynamic Cast Target (not a window or monitor) and the choice is cached in ~/.config/gpu-screen-recorder/restore_token.
Shortcut
Action
Mod+V
Record focused window (toggle)
Mod+Shift+V
Record entire screen (toggle)
Mod+Alt+V
Re-aim a live recording at the focused window
Mod+Ctrl+V
Re-aim a live recording at the focused monitor
The window being recorded gets a red border. If recordings ever capture the wrong thing, delete restore_token and re-pick - a stale token silently overrides everything.
