Device Mode lblk not working

in the Documentation i have read about lblk mode but its not working

sbctl --version
simplyblock version: 26.3.0.5

Seems like I accidentally merged the documentation PR already 🫣
The PR is not yet merged (#1224) and I assume there is also a backend PR which would still have to be merged, but you can try if the sbctl version from the PR is enough already.

Hi @Catman100 the changes merged to main completely now.

you can try install it using the below pip command

pip install --upgrade "git+https://github.com/simplyblock/sbcli.git@main"

And then starting using the lbk

# Create the cluster in lblk mode
sbctl cluster create --ifname=<ifname>--device-mode lblk

# On each storage node host, deploy as usual
sbctl sn deploy --ifname ens18

# Configure the node to use Linux block devices instead of NVMe
#  (omit --blk-names/--blk-serials to auto-select all eligible whole disks)

Hey @Catman100! I think you may be using an old Python version (like 3.9). Is that possible? @mxsrc may be the better person to help here :)

Yes that looks to be the case. We had to drop 3.9 support because it has been EOL for a year and security issues in the dependencies were not fixed anymore. Pip doesn't seem to check the required python version when installing a git repo, hence it only fails at irreconcilable dependencies later. I recommend installation through uv:

pip install uv
uv tool install sbctl

That's great, then the Python setup works as it should. The new issue is that the flag you're using is gated by the dev-mode, some flags that use experimental features require that to be set: --dev, or short -d:

The misunderstanding is in the version number 26.3.1 is our latest release that doesn't have the feature you want to try yet. You need to use the main branch, which will (erroneously) report as 19.2.35. That's apparently a left-over from a versioning scheme change we did recently, I'll fix that.

I think the wrong sbctl is being run in this case. The pip show command indicates the correct version and your command is correct. Could you check with which, which version is being run? I tried to confirm, in my case it works:
