Implement a native Rapyer text type #285

Open

Description

@yedidyakfir

Parent tracking issue for a native Rapyer text type backed by embeddings. The work will be delivered in multiple scoped steps.\n\nFirst step: implement an embedding adapter.\n\nLinear project: https://linear.app/yedidyakfir/project/rapyer-text-type-4ca7c621b793\nLinear issue: #285

Important note for Stand-up

Whenever we finish this task we need to tell Claude to go over the entire rapyer project and fix all the function comments according to our code style instruction s

    Milestone work branch: gsd/285-rapyer-text-type (based off develop; merges to develop at milestone end).

    Phase 5 — Embedding Adapter + rapyer[embeddings] extra — done (first step of this issue):

    • rapyer/embeddings/: EmbeddingAdapter protocol, RedisvlEmbeddingAdapter (wraps any redisvl vectorizer, thread-offloads sync ones), DefaultEmbeddingAdapter zero-config default, FLOAT32 packing + cache-key-label helpers.
    • EmbeddingsExtraNotInstalledError — redisvl imported only inside a single guarded block, so base installs are completely unaffected (verified empirically).
    • Meta.vectorizer + init_rapyer(vectorizer=) wiring; rapyer[embeddings] extra (redisvl pinned 0.23.0).

    11 TDD commits + 1 code-review fix commit. Verification passed 5/5 must-haves; 833 unit + 64 cascade tests green.

    Remaining milestone steps continue on this branch: Phase 6 (Vector[...] annotation + RedisText SF type + atomic save), Phase 7 (VECTOR index manager), Phase 8 (KNN semantic search).
