Superseded by #13 — this branch is obsolete. PR #13 consolidates the Hatchling/pyproject.toml packaging work on a clean master base with updated CI (Python 3.10+, modern actions). Please close this PR in favor of #13.

- Add PEP 621 metadata, optional test and midi extras, and explicit
  wheel contents for the just_intonation module
- Remove legacy setup.py; point requirements.txt at editable .[test]
- Document PyPI, editable, git, and optional [midi] installs in README
- CI installs the project via requirements.txt (pytest already included)

Consolidates former PRs #9 and #13 into a single packaging-only change on
master (no midi_play rewrite or docs).

- Add pyproject.toml with Hatchling backend, optional dev/test/midi extras
- Move pytest config from pytest.ini into pyproject.toml
- Remove setup.py and requirements.txt
- CI: Python 3.10–3.13, editable .[dev] install, updated actions
- README: installation instructions for editable, dev, and midi extras
