Janah is a Sublime Text 4 theme and color-scheme package built by porting and combining existing open-source theme work. It is not presented as a from-scratch visual design.
The project exists because of the work of the original Spacegray and vim-janah authors. Please give those projects the credit they deserve.
Janah's Sublime Text UI theme, theme rules, assets, icons, sidebar behavior, widgets, and much of its package structure are derived from Spacegray.
Spacegray was created by Gadzhi Kharkharov and is now maintained by the Sublime Text Packages community:
- Spacegray: https://github.com/SublimeText/Spacegray
- Gadzhi Kharkharov: https://kkga.me/
Janah vendors substantial portions of Spacegray so it can operate as a self-contained Sublime Text package.
The Spacegray-derived portions remain subject to the upstream MIT license. The upstream copyright notice is preserved in LICENSE-Spacegray.
Janah's UI palette is based on the Spacegray Eighties variation.
The upstream Spacegray project explicitly credits Yoshua Wuyts for contributing the Spacegray Eighties variation:
- Yoshua Wuyts: https://github.com/yoshuawuyts
Janah merges the Eighties palette values into the complete Spacegray base theme rather than attempting to redesign Spacegray's UI.
Janah's editor syntax colors are ported from vim-janah, authored by mhinz:
- vim-janah: https://github.com/mhinz/vim-janah
- mhinz: https://github.com/mhinz
The goal of Janah.sublime-color-scheme is to preserve the character and color relationships of the original Vim color scheme while mapping Vim highlight groups to Sublime Text scopes.
This repository's contribution is primarily the Sublime Text port, integration, packaging, compatibility work, namespace conversion, scope mapping, and the merger of the Spacegray UI with the Janah editor palette.
In particular, the project:
- ports the Janah editor palette to Sublime Text 4 scopes;
- uses the complete Spacegray UI implementation as the base;
- applies the Spacegray Eighties UI palette;
- vendors the required Spacegray UI assets and file icons;
- rewrites package resource paths so the package is self-contained as
Janah; - preserves Spacegray's selected-sidebar, tab, panel, widget, icon, and VCS behavior;
- packages the result as a single Sublime Text package.
If you like Janah, please also star, follow, or otherwise support the upstream Spacegray and vim-janah projects.
