fix(offline-sync): validate the screenshot archive before extracting it - #425
offline-sync/upload-screenshots checks the archive before anything is extracted or attached, using only the zip central directory (ZipArchive::count(), getNameIndex(), statIndex()). An archive is rejected with HTTP 422 (a file validation error, the same shape as the existing .cattr extension check) if:
it has more entries than OFFLINE_SCREENSHOTS_MAX_FILES (default 150), validation.offline-sync.too_many_files;
the summed uncompressed size of its entries exceeds OFFLINE_SCREENSHOTS_MAX_SIZE_BYTES (default 1 GiB), validation.offline-sync.too_large;
any entry name is not a plain file name: it contains /, \, .. or NUL, or starts with a drive (C:), validation.offline-sync.wrong_file_name.
When an archive is rejected, no temporary directory is created and no interval is changed. The limits are in config/app.php (app.offline_screenshots.max_files / max_size), next to screenshots_rate_limit, and are documented in .env.example. The new messages are in en and ru.
The desktop application exports a flat archive of <user_id>_<screenshot_id> entries with no folders and no extensions (fflate.zip() of a flat object, routes/intervals.js). So the name rule does not reject anything the client produces.
Defaults
150 entries. About 1.5 working days × 96 screenshots: about 11 s at ~75 ms per 1920×1080 screenshot on the local disk and about 47 s on S3 (up to ~310 ms each), so about half of Octane's 90 s max_execution_time stays free for extraction, queries and the response. The desktop app uploads all deferred screenshots in one archive, so a larger archive cannot be synced until the client uploads in batches; raise the limit on the local disk if needed. Background processing without this bound is tracked in Process offline screenshot archives in the background #427.
1 GiB uncompressed. That is about 7 MiB per screenshot at 150 entries. The client compresses at level 1, and screenshots barely compress, so a real archive reaches Octane's 512 MiB package_max_length long before it reaches 1 GiB. The limit is aimed at highly compressible content (zip bombs).
Zip Slip / zip bomb
Entry names are validated before extraction. PHP's extractTo() itself would already rewrite ../ and leading / into the target directory (verified on PHP 8.3.36 / libzip 1.12.1). It does not stop entries from colliding after that rewrite, though, and nested names were silently skipped or failed halfway through the upload. A flat-name rule makes the archive layout explicit.
The size limit is checked twice. The zip headers are summed first, as a cheap early rejection of honestly labelled archives. During extraction, extractTo() is replaced by a loop that copies each entry in 64 KiB chunks against a running byte budget (OFFLINE_SCREENSHOTS_MAX_SIZE_BYTES), so an archive whose headers claim a few bytes per entry (a forged zip bomb) is stopped as soon as the budget would be exceeded and rejected with the same 422 too_large; no more than the limit is ever written. The temporary directory is removed as before.
Entries whose compressed data cannot be decoded are now rejected with 400 "Cannot open file." (previously extractTo() silently wrote them as empty files and the request answered 200 with "screenshot not attached").
Tests
Added in the extraction change: a forged-size zip bomb (headers patched to 10 bytes, 3 MiB of content) → 422 too_large with nothing written above the limit; a corrupted entry → 400; an archive exactly at the size limit is still attached. Full suite after it: 455 tests / 2378 assertions OK.
tests/Feature/TimeIntervals/OfflineScreenshotsArchiveLimitsTest.php (new). The shared upload helpers moved from ScreenshotTmpFilesTest into the UploadsOfflineScreenshots trait. Each rejection test puts a valid screenshot for an existing offline interval into the archive and asserts four things: the response is 422 with the message, the interval keeps its screenshot_id, no screenshot was stored or thumbnail job queued, and storage/app/tmp is empty.
too many entries (limit lowered to 2, 3 entries) → 422;
too large unpacked (limit lowered to 1 MiB, ~1.5 MiB of zeros packed into a few KiB) → 422;
an archive exactly at the entry limit is still attached; the defaults are 150 / 1 GiB; the size-limit message is formatted with Number::fileSize() (e.g. "256 KB").
Without the controller change, 9 of the 11 new tests fail. The archives that were too large, had too many entries, or had an absolute or nested name were accepted (200). The ../ and \ names returned a 400 from the old name check, which runs during processing, so earlier entries may already have been attached.
PHPUnit: 441 tests / 2286 assertions before, 452 tests / 2358 assertions after, all green. phpcs on the changed PHP files reports no new errors or warnings (one existing warning in IntervalController.php). git diff --check is clean.
Offline screenshot archives are rejected if they exceed file-count or unpacked-size limits, contain unsafe names, folders, or non-screenshot files, or include unreadable entries. Rejected uploads leave existing interval attachments and stored screenshots unchanged.
Archive contents are checked against the actual extracted size, including when declared entry sizes are inaccurate.
New Features
Archive limits are configurable, with defaults of 150 files and 1 GiB. Archives within the configured limits, including those exactly at the size limit, are accepted.
Validation messages explain rejection reasons in English and Russian.

Walkthrough
Offline screenshot uploads now use configurable file-count and uncompressed-size limits. The controller validates archive entries before extraction and streams files within the size limit. Feature tests cover accepted and rejected archives, including forged sizes, corrupted entries, and unsafe names.

Feature tests cover configured limits, accepted archives, malformed and unsafe entries, attachment state, queued jobs, and temporary storage cleanup. Shared upload helpers support both test classes.
cattr-app/server-application#423 — Both changes handle offline screenshot archive names and attachment. PR #423 defines the full filename format and applies authorization during attachment.
cattr-app/server-application#419 — This change extends synchronous archive extraction with pre-extraction validation and bounded streaming.
cattr-app/server-application#412 — This change extracts to local temporary storage and passes extracted screenshots to the storage-aware screenshot service.

Explanation
[#422] requires a multi-day offline archive to complete processing or receive a clear rejection before work starts. The current-head changes validate entry count, declared uncompressed size, and entry names before temporary-directory creation and attachment. Extraction also enforces the size budget while writing. Validation failures return clear file errors, and the tests cover unchanged intervals, no stored screenshots, no queued jobs, and temporary-directory cleanup. Archives within the limits continue to attachment.

Offline screenshots are processed within the request, so an unbounded
archive could exceed the 90 s execution limit after attaching part of it,
or fill the disk when extracted. Before extraction the zip directory is
checked: at most OFFLINE_SCREENSHOTS_MAX_FILES entries (default 500), at
most OFFLINE_SCREENSHOTS_MAX_SIZE_BYTES uncompressed (default 1 GiB, per
the archive headers), and only flat file names (no /, \, .., NUL or drive
prefix). Violations return 422 with nothing extracted or attached.
Closes#422
The header check trusts the sizes declared in the zip, so a forged archive
could pass it and still write its full decompressed content. Replace
extractTo() with a loop that copies each entry in 64 KiB chunks against a
running byte budget (OFFLINE_SCREENSHOTS_MAX_SIZE_BYTES) and rejects the
upload with the same 422 too_large before the budget is exceeded. Entries
that cannot be decoded are rejected with 400 instead of being written as
empty files.
Refs #422
…extracting
'.' passed the plain-name check and fopen() on the directory turned into
a 500 instead of 422; it is now rejected as a wrong file name. A failed
fopen() or a short fwrite() (e.g. a full disk) now aborts the extraction
instead of leaving a truncated screenshot to be attached.

ZipArchive::getStreamIndex() can return an empty string at EOF after a CRC error instead of false. The loop writes the preceding bytes, exits on feof(), and passes the truncated file to attachOfflineScreenshots().

The size-limit message uses Illuminate\Support\Number, which needs intl.
The runtime image already ships it; declaring it makes installs without
intl fail at composer install instead of at runtime.

A damaged entry can end early without a read error, so a truncated

Refs #422
Re the outside-diff comment on IntervalController.php:895-920 (entries that end before their declared size): fixed in c1110de. The extraction loop counts the bytes written per entry and compares them with the size from statIndex(); on a mismatch the archive is rejected with 400 "Cannot open file." before anything is attached. The size-limit and write-failure checks are unchanged. New test test_archive_with_an_entry_shorter_than_declared_is_rejected (declared size 1000 bytes larger than the content) fails without the change (200, truncated file attached) and passes with it.
