JAAI

JAAI (Just Another AI Interface) is a lightweight Flask-based AI assistant with local Ollama support, chat history, file upload parsing, optional web search, and a desktop wrapper.

Requirements

• Python 3.12
• Ollama running locally (default URL: http://127.0.0.1:11434)
• Optional: SerpAPI key for web search

Setup

python -m venv env
source env/bin/activate
pip install -r req.txt
cp .env.example .env

Edit .env and set at least:

• SECRET_KEY
• CHAT_ENCRYPTION_KEY (optional, defaults to SECRET_KEY)
• SERPAPI_KEY (optional, required for web search)
• OLLAMA_URL (optional)

Initialize the database

python dbinit.py

Run the app

python app.py

Then open:

• http://127.0.0.1:5000

Desktop app

python desktop.py

Notes

• If SERPAPI_KEY is not set, web search and search-limit features will be disabled.
• The app expects a local Ollama server or another compatible endpoint.
• The default database is SQLite and is stored in the app instance.
