Project scope
-------------

**Status:** Active

**Mission:** UrbanAccess provides tools for constructing and preparing
integrated transit and pedestrian networks from open transportation data for
accessibility analysis.

The project maintains and develops:

* GTFS transit-network ingestion and validation;
* pedestrian street-network integration;
* schedule- and time-dependent network impedance;
* multimodal pedestrian/transit graph construction;
* standardized node, edge, and impedance representations; and
* interoperable outputs for network-analysis and accessibility libraries.

UrbanAccess focuses on reproducible preparation and integration of multimodal
network data. It is designed to work with maintained libraries for OSM
acquisition and network analysis.

Development that improves compatibility, reliability, data integration,
reproducibility, and interoperability is welcome within this scope. Material
changes to the project's mission are considered through UDST's
organization-level governance process.
