Local-first developer context hub built on Supermemory. Capture high-signal intent from your IDE and terminal, open Context anytime to see where you left off, Save a capsule to switch tools or share with a teammate.
Works across VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and VSCodium (one extension). Optional terminal/git hooks and npx @engram-cli/engram + MCP for Claude Code and other agents.
Live site: engram-context.vercel.app
- Extension — Sideload the VSIX:
extension/engram-0.1.0.vsix(build withcd extension && npm run package). In VS Code/Cursor: Extensions → … → Install from VSIX…. Or use Install extension on the landing page. - Start the backend —
npx @engram-cli/engram startstarts Supermemory Local (:6767) + the Engram backend (:7731) in the foreground. - Install hooks —
npx @engram-cli/engram initin each project repo to enable terminal + git capture. - Dashboard — Sign in on the landing site, then open engram-context.vercel.app/dashboard (local backend on
:7731required for live context). - MCP — Add to your Claude Code or other MCP client config:
{
"mcpServers": {
"engram": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@engram-cli/engram", "mcp"],
"env": { "ENGRAM_BACKEND_URL": "http://localhost:7731" }
}
}
}On first run, use the extension Setup checklist (or dashboard Settings) to paste your Supermemory API key and optional LLM key.
Share links need an account (GitHub, Google, or email). Solo capture/Context needs no account.
| Piece | Role |
|---|---|
| Capture | Invisible write pipeline — events go into local Supermemory |
| Context | Always-current read — assembles a brief when you open the panel (not a separate store) |
| Save / Load | Freeze / restore the project's capsule for IDE handoff |
| Share | Upload a sanitized capsule snapshot → public link + Copy Markdown / Import |
Files stay on disk. Engram shares context, not tabs, buffers, or chat history.

Monorepo tip: project data lives in backend/data. Standalone npx defaults to ~/.engram/data. From this repo, prefer cd cli && node dist/cli.js start so you reuse monorepo data.
