During the GlaMBIE workshop I talked with Pierre René from the Moraine association.
He collects glaciological data for the Pyrenees. The Ossoue glacier for example has continuous SMB measurements for almost 25 years.
Some interesting assets of this dataset:
- SMB is measured on the Ossoue glacier every month during the ablation season which could be helpful to validate if MBM is capable of retrieving the monthly variability and not only the seasonality. On this glacier there is no accumulation area.
- Ossoue glacier is so thin that it has no dynamics.
- In 2023 a dataset of the outlines for all Pyrenees glaciers was produced, which could be interesting to use in comparison to other global glacier outlines datasets that are older.
