The repository lacked user-facing documentation. Added a complete README covering installation, usage, and development workflows.

Contents

  • Project overview: MCP server for Enapter IoT platform integration
  • Installation methods: PyPI, source, and Docker
  • Usage examples: Server startup, configuration via environment variables and CLI flags
  • MCP tools reference: Complete documentation of 5 available tools (list_sites, get_site, list_devices, get_device, get_latest_telemetry) with parameters and return types
  • Development guide: Setup, testing, linting, and build commands via Makefile
  • Project structure: Source organization and key dependencies

Example Usage

# Start server with custom configuration
python -m enapter_mcp_server serve \
  --address 0.0.0.0:8080 \
  --enapter-http-api-url https://api.enapter.com

# Or via Docker
docker run -p 8000:8000 enapter/mcp-server:latest serve
Original prompt

Write a nice README.

@copilot, I've added a few changes. Check if everything is alright.

Yes, everything looks great! The README is now much more concise and focused. The changes are excellent:

  • Streamlined from 298 to 66 lines while keeping all essential information
  • Docker-first approach makes it clearer for users
  • Updated references to Enapter EMS and better API documentation links
  • All formatting and links are working correctly

The simplified version is much more approachable for users.

@copilot Would you please review my changes?

Reviewed! The README changes look excellent. The condensed version is much more user-friendly and maintains all the critical information while removing less essential development details. All markdown formatting, links, and code blocks are properly structured.
