Getting started

Basic concept

All custom textures has their texture and data. For now, mod supports only .png textures, which are also have to be 256x256 pixels. To "link" texture and data, these files have to be named the same. For example: my_texture.png and my_texture.json. If one of the files is missing, then it won't be available in the mod and Config Menu.

Example

You can download an "official" .zip file example with custom texture: sticky_stick.zip

Texture

First of all, you'll need a texture file itself. You can get this template for easier drawing, it also contains small titles. Then put it in any drawing app you have, that supports alpha channel. Let's break down every area:

template_example
  • Background is main part of the toast, where text is displayed. Doesn't have variations for advancement types. It should be quite dark, because the text is mainly white.
  • Banners are the main part of difference among advancement types. Has no text or items over it, displayed only for more decoration.
    • "Banner 1" represents TASK
    • "Banner 2" represents GOAL
    • "Banner 3" represents CHALLENGE
  • Icons are the item's backgrounds, which support advancement types as well as Banners. It shouldn't be a bright or dark color, because it renders item over it.
    • "Icon 1" represents TASK
    • "Icon 2" represents GOAL
    • "Icon 3" represents CHALLENGE
  • Plaque is the smallest part of the texture. Exists only for more uniqueness, and serves as the icing on the cake.

Rename your texture with descriptive name. For example: dark_fantasy.png

Json

Now, as you have a texture, you need data for it. For now, there is not too much information, but it already helps to identify your work. Create .json file with the name of texture, for example: dark_fantasy.json. Now let's break down everything, that can be used as data:

{
  "name": "Omega",
  "author": "Bivrik",
  "description": "An interesting description for players"
}
  • name used for displaying name of texture and for search in textures list
  • author displayed in the info list about texture
  • description displayed in the info list about texture

Where to download

For now, there is no official place to download or upload custom textures. Though, you can:

  • Share textures directly with friends.
  • Include them in modpacks.
  • Post them on community forums.

How to install

All custom textures are stored in the config folder of the mod. It located on the path:

./minecraft/config/fancytoasts/textures/

So, after creating or downloading custom texture, you should put texture and data inside that folder. They will appear as soon as you re-open Config Menu inside game. No game restart needed.
