fix(config): preserve preset saves from other sessions - #133
Saving a preset from an older Blippy session could erase another session's presets and revert newer theme or binding edits. Append to the latest disk configuration under a stable file lock, then replace it only after a complete temporary file has been written.
Both sessions start with quit = "ctrl+q". The file is then edited to use midnight and ctrl+x, and the sessions save first and second in sequence:
Same input and save order
Before
After
Saved presets
Only second
first, second
Saved theme
Unset
midnight
Saved quit binding
Reverted to ctrl+q
ctrl+x
Delete config before saving another preset
Old settings return
Only the new preset is saved with defaults
File-size limit interrupts a write
Existing config is partially overwritten
Previous config remains byte-for-byte intact; retry succeeds after removing the limit
The multi-session regression fails on bea19ab. Review also caught partial-write retry and deleted-config cases; both fail against the first PR revision and pass now. Tests cover overlapping saves, empty/deleted files, malformed TOML protection, absolute/relative/chained symlinks with missing targets, cycle rejection, Unix permissions, draft retry, and separate keybind-file precedence.
The atomic replacement uses tempfile, already present in the lockfile and now a direct dependency. The lock stays on a separate file because replacing the config changes its file identity. On Unix, a best-effort parent-directory sync follows replacement; failure at that point does not invite a duplicate retry.
All 372 tests, strict Clippy, formatting and whitespace checks pass on Linux aarch64 with Rust 1.99.1. Tests use isolated local configuration files; the write limit affects only a child process. Windows/macOS execution was not tested.

Walkthrough
Preset saving now locks and rereads the current configuration, appends the preset, and stages a synced replacement while preserving existing permissions. The app delegates saving to this operation. Tests cover concurrent saves, symlinks, malformed configurations, and failed-write retries.

Summary
Read and replace the latest configuration src/config.rs, Cargo.toml
Config::save_comment_default resolves the config target, locks a sidecar file, reads the latest configuration, and stages a synced replacement. Existing permissions are preserved.

The app delegates preset saving to the new config method. Tests cover preservation of newer settings and presets, symlink handling, malformed files, and retry after failed writes. Documentation describes the updated save behavior.
Issue 97 — The changes test that a failed config write leaves the preset available for a later retry.
Issue 107 — The changes test that keybind-file overrides are not written into the base configuration during preset saving.

Explanation
Issue #132 requires preset saves to use the latest persisted config.toml and retain presets, theme edits, and binding edits from other sessions. Config::save_comment_default resolves the config target, locks a stable sidecar file, rereads the latest configuration, appends the preset, and atomically replaces the target only after staging and syncing a complete file. The reported tests cover sequential and concurrent saves, deleted or empty files, malformed TOML protection, symlinks, permissions, and failed-write retry. These changes satisfy the linked coding requirements.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The changes stay within issue #132. The App delegation, tempfile dependency, documentation updates, atomic-write handling, symlink and permission handling, and regression tests directly support safe preservation of the latest configuration during preset saves. The separate keybind-file precedence coverage verifies that this fix does not persist unrelated overrides.
