• 🚅Medium Issue (20min)
• 🐢Large Issue (45min)

Reviewing Sync

• Reviving the device metadata versioning decisions from SRM Notes for 27-03-2025 #129 (🐢). Removing firmwareVersion and hardwareTargets, adding interfaceVersion, renaming protocolVersion to protocolInterfaceVersion. None was applied, and the following were opened or written against the schema as it stands, not as those notes leave it:
  • Allow multiple hardware targets in device schema #172
  • Allow multiple hardware targets in device specification #174
  • Add platform architecture to hardware targets in device schema #66
  • Applying any of it also needs the schema files released together with their ids bumped, which Allow multiple hardware targets in device specification #174 is already blocked on.
• Add UID, Tag, Heartbeat and Version registers to core interface specification #178 (🚀). Applying the design agreed on the thread in November 2025, and aligning the register layout with whatever the item above settles.

Reviewing Async

• Rename the device key to name for consistency with the WhoAmI registry #230
• Add patch component to HarpVersion bonsai-rx/harp#103
• Use a single version number in device repositories #145
  • Use a single version number for protocol releases #148
• Interface schema does not allow 0-length payloads #214
• Metadata model rejects published and proposed device.yml fields generators#136
