show more button

Steps to reproduce the problem

1.Just open a thread you haven't used yet
2.clicking show more posts shows
3.it doesn't

It's just irritating. You click it b/c "just in case", but no, they are already there. I know whoever coded it had and idea for it, but, in my experience, it's simply an irritating popup. And i really don't want to dis the person who wrote it. Maybe I'm an idiot. Maybe tilde.zone doesn't have the latest, but for the past months it's just be an irritant to me and a pointless waste of time, attention and destroyed UX.
That said, glitch is awesome! Obviously! so much adopted upstream. Thank you so much!
Just this one, little thing I'd like to turn off, as I find no benefit and only friction.

Dear Claire, Sorry, I had to wait for it to happen again. Here's the thing: I'm already reading the thread and scrolling down and suddenly this thing pops up telling me there's more. I know there's more already! I"m scrolling down it! This is what is driving my spare! So. If you could turn off that behaviour please, that would be great. gemlog

Hi! Thanks, this is an upstream feature that is meant to allow loading posts that were not known to your server at the moment you opened the thread. Essentially, it works like this:

• when opening a thread, this asks the server to look for new replies
• while the thread is open, it periodically checks with the server if it knows about new replies
• if the server does, this message is shown so that you can load the new posts

This is so that you can see the new posts, without inserting them directly because that would mess up with what you are reading.

I'm not sure in which cases it could show up without there being new posts, but that sounds like a real bug worth reporting upstream.
