Bug in defining x (distance along a profile) in .sgt files?

I believe that the x defined in .sgt files of SRT inversions is the horizontal distance between the origin and geophones and not the distance along the surface. This definition works fine if the site is flat but causes an error in sloping sites where the distance along the surface is greater than the horizontal distance. In site investigations, we always measure the distance along the surface and not the horizontal distance between two geophones sites.

Can this be fixed? It is a fairly simple correction I would imagine.

yes, the x / y / z values in all Data Containers and associated data files are defined in terms of the mesh. So x is the horizontal distance along the x-axis for example. Users have to provide this. This function can be helpful in this regard.

But yes, we should better document this. Could be a section in the new user guide currently in development here.

And just to provide some justification: Using tape measures in data files would be problematic in 3D and having the coordinates in terms of the mesh is also more convenient for plotting of the sensors, where matplotlib also needs values along the axes.
