Status of 2025-09 release

Hi, I'm a maintainer for the Homebrew package manager and we noticed that the 2025-09 release of GAMA on GitHub was recently marked as "latest" but we weren't sure about whether it's a stable release.

If I'm not mistaken, this was originally an alpha release but the title was changed to the "Version 2025-09" format that stable releases use. However, the description still states, "Alpha release for GAMA 2025.09.0. Please test and report issues." and the release asset file names use the file name format that subsequent alpha releases use (e.g., GAMA_2025.09.0_MacOS_with_JDK_17.09.25_860732f.dmg compared to GAMA_2025.06.4_MacOS_with_JDK.dmg). The gama-platform.org download page and changelog still reference 2025-06 as the newest stable version and I haven't seen an announcement for 2025-09 (from a cursory search).

With that in mind, I have a few questions to clarify the situation:

• Which is the newest stable version?
• Is GitHub a suitable place to check for new stable versions or should we be checking the gama-platform.org download page instead?
• Will stable releases use the GAMA_2025.09.0_MacOS_with_JDK_17.09.25_860732f.dmg file name format going forward or return to the GAMA_2025.06.4_MacOS_with_JDK.dmg format?

Yes indeed, 2025-09 was previously tagged as alpha, I changed it to stable as it is de facto a stable version and I wanted to facilitate its access for some new users in the wait of the next big release at the end of the year. But it seems that it's causing more problems and confusion than it's helping so I will just switch it back to alpha. Consider this as a simple mistake, we will do a proper stable release with an announcement and all later this year for a new version.
