Long delay when switching subtitles before subs are displayed

I'm experiencing a long delay when switching subtitles. I change them and they don't appear for a long time. Since I've discovered that skipping makes them appear instantly I can't tell how long they actually take to display without skipping but it's not 1 or 2 seconds...

Does it happen just to me? I have an Ugoos AM6B+ and using cpm A13 build.

not only you, I'm also experiencing this. It might have been intentional and related to this commit (but might be wrong): cpm-code/xbmc@ace8929

but @cpm-code can clarify better.

So saying CE mainline version does not have the same behaviour?
Cannot see how that commit would cause any delay issue beyond what was already there.

I'm experiencing the problem with cpm A13 too, but not on CE.

@cpm-code that was just a wild guess as afair it was the only subtitle-related change that was not from mainline CE

FYI - open to others to offer a fix, but not going to look into this one as acceptable for me.
