Have you tried going directly from the AM6B+ to the LG, rather than via the Onkyo? |

@Epedemic , try the build below to see if the problem is resolved or persists. After you update to this build, make sure you go to Settings/System/CoreELEC at the bottom of the screen click on "Reset above settings to default" and then confirm by clicking "yes". If you want to go back to A14, after updating to A14 do the same reset. |

@Epedemic , Yes, it is proper behavior since you need to see the interface to use it. I originally developed the auto-feature code for allowing L5 trims to not create a problem while using the OSD and for subtitles. I provided the code to cpm through a PR and he included in his code with his own improvements. On this build I just fully automated these features (and others) and corrected some side effects so the correct settings are used. You can test this build with the L5 test file to see that L5 are still being used, just make sure that the OSD is not showing when testing since when the OSD is showing L5 will be zeroes (better than no L5). On older displays like your you cannot have the full L5 being applied (L5 have to be zeroes or not included) while using the OSD. |

@Epedemic , Just a note that the OSD is not only the bottom controls but also the top portion of the screen including the logos/tags (e.g. Dolby) that pops up on the start of the playback. I also have extended how long the logos/tags stay on the screen for folks that are using projectors (given the longer sync time), so you will need to wait until those logos get out of the screen for the L5 test to work. In regards to the black bars showing up in the middle of the movie - does it show up as you are watching a movie without touching the remote? Did you paused, stopped or did anything during the playback? Does the black bars cover the bottom and top portion of the screen or some other parts of the screen? |
|
@Epedemic , ok then that is actually the L5 working. So the specific movie you are watching (let me know which ones have this problem) have L5 active during that playback duration which could be by intent or a mistake. |
|
@Epedemic , Ok, so with my build you do not have the whole black screen problem as you had with A14 but you get the black bars. As I mentioned, this is how the movie was mastered with the L5 active during those periods (that is what L5 does besides a few other things). So if you want to have your display use L5 and not always have L5 as zeroes or inactive then there is no way around it. |

@Epedemic , Ok, glad I could help. please mark this post as answered so it can be closed. thank you. |

Been extremely pleased with CPM A14 so far, but I have run into issues with certain media: Some times my TV will go completely black, not even OSD from Kodi or my AVR will display, but the movies are still playing, as I can hear the sound from the AVR, and stop/ff/rwd through Kore or by using the remote blindly. With the help of the epic RESET_9999, we have narrowed the issue down to something with L5/CM4.0, as removing CM4.0 entirely from the files via dovi_script or disabling L5 source level processing in the settings will mitigate the problem.
2 of the files are profile 5, and one is profile 8.1.
I can tell you the 3 titles I have seen it on so far, if allowed, or provide samples of the problematic files if need be.
Hope this can be fixed in a future release. Let me know if you need further information.
A side note is that the TV behaves in a similar way if I try to play 60fps DV content from CPM, but this is expected, as it only supports DV up to 30fps via HDMI. The problematic content in question is 23.976 or 24fps.
