Context

How would Bolt change if Ethereum were to enshrine PBS? And what impact would each specific model of enshrinement have? So far, there are 2 paths being discussed: block auction & slot auction ePBS. Block auction ePBS is a very literal enshrinement of what we have now, where builders compete in a JIT auction and the proposer picks the highest bid. A committee is then responsible for mediating the fair & timely exchange. With slot auction ePBS, the builder would buy the slot ahead of time, meaning they know exactly when it will be their turn to propose a block. This means that they could very well be the entities giving commitments like preconfirmations.
