Locale error

Hi!

I am making a salmon index using version 1.11.4 but mid-job I get this error:

[info] Done wrapping the rank vector with a rank9sel structure. Exception : [locale::facet::_S_create_c_locale name not valid]

Has anyone had the same issue? I solved it using version 1.10.1 but I was wondering if anyone found a way around this.

Specifying export LC_ALL=C export LANG=C didn't work.

This error is usually related to an invalid or missing locale configuration on the system.

Even though LC_ALL and LANG are set, the required locale might not actually be generated or installed.

You can try the following:

1. Check available locales:
   locale -a

2. If your desired locale (e.g. en_US.UTF-8) is missing, generate it:

On Ubuntu/Debian:
sudo locale-gen en_US.UTF-8
sudo update-locale

On Fedora:
sudo localedef -i en_US -f UTF-8 en_US.UTF-8

3. Then export again:
   export LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8
   export LANG=en_US.UTF-8

4. Restart your shell or session and rerun the job.

Since it worked on an older version, this could also be due to stricter locale handling in newer builds, so ensuring the locale is fully installed usually fixes it.
